Agreed. I think that's how a remake should be since it's got the benefit of hindsight to improve issues like plot holes in the story. Remakes, in my opinion, shouldn't just be a 1:1 recreation with pretty graphics but an overall improvement of the original (while obviously still following the same story just maybe adding some pacing, plot, and gameplay fixes like how the turret section was also removed).

The dialogue in this game is so good, even with little lines like that 😆

The sheer amount of options to handle situations, be it in combat, dialog, or other mechanics, is just astounding and the care and attention that Larian and everyone involved put into the game really shows that they deserved their accolades.

I've got the rainmeter skin in a GitHub repo github.com/JAIJ47/SensorPanel just be aware you may need to change a fair bit to get it to work for yourself and keep in mind the pinned comments about HWiNFO compatibility

Other people didn't seem to have an issue with volume since this was uploaded almost 2 years ago so you might want to try turning up the video volume, your PC's audio volume, and/or your speaker volume to see if that helps

@@JAIJ47 I agree with sparrow. All of my volume settings are set to 100%. I can hear you, but if another sound occurs, it will scare the living daylights out of me

I believe there are a few subtle changes in dialogue around the side quests. There's one where Issac's dialogue changes when you kill the hunter depending on the progress of one of the side quests but yeah, including small bits based on logs found or other collectibles would be cool

To be fair, they really didn't make the model look that great XD

100%. Some of the discussions I've been following throughout the other comments here suggest that the Marker's influence is carried out by using hallucinations of loved ones, who are already dead, to manipulate the living. This scene adds to that suggestion a bit since we know that, for Issac, Nicole is dead but Jacob Temple (Liz Cross' lover) is still alive.

Not really since this log, as far as I'm aware, is only accessible in a New Game+ playthrough.

I'm honestly really looking forward to seeing what else is in store from Motive considering how much detail and passion went into the remake. Small details like this little New Game+ feature is something I honestly wouldn't fault them for not adding but since this exists, I think it shows that the devs, designers, and other departments working on this are just as much fans of the franchise like us.

I kinda like the new faces. Both characters are experts in their respective fields. Their levels if expertise come from years of experience and training. You'd need to be middle aged to do what they do.

@@TopTwom Though, Issac was apparently gifted, keep that in mind. I think he's possibly in his early thirties, if not younger by this point.

@@shadows_star I believe he was in his forties at the events of the game? Considering Isaac was born in 2461, and the Ishimura incident takes place in 2508, according to Dead Space wiki

It would but that might've left a bit of a plot hole since Liz has Jacob's access codes which Issac doesn't. If Jacob was in Issac's place then there wouldn't be a reason for Liz to have to unlock the door (unless the guys at Motive could think of a way around that)

Eh, not really. It's not really foreshadowing, because you can only find this audio log in New Game+, when you already know the plot twist at the end. The player already knows that all encounters with Nicole are actually Elizabeth Cross, so this audio log is technically not foreshadowing. Information is only 'foreshadowing' if the audience does not yet know all of the story or what is going to happen.

@@JAIJ47 it is man. In my line of work. I see a lot of people die. Suicides. The best defense against psychosis, is never giving up. You might lose your mind but you won't lose yourself. Remember and believe who you are. And not even the oceans and mountains can defeat you. Isacc might be losing his mind but he never gave up hope. Hope is what keeps us going in a world where nothing makes sense.

@@brandonchavis9218 I have only done 1 playthrough and that audio log was in my run. I think people are making this mistake as they simply didn't find it the first time around.

@@ghostofdota I'll double check on a new playthrough once I'm done with my Plasma Cutter run but everyone that I've seen so far to find this log has found it only in New Game+ and claim that on the first playthrough it's a locked console.

SPOILERS!… …. … It sure seems like it with the Alternate ending and the regular ending being the same.

Unfortunately, there never was a remake for the second game in development. EA put Dead Space on ice again, and it'll probably be another decade before we see another game.

@@ferdinand5223 Not true. EA literally debunked jason schriers claims by saying the game isn't shelved or cancelled in anyway. They considered the remake a success. We're likely to see Dead Space 2 remake after Motive are done with Iron Man likely in 2029 maybe as early as 2027 if things go smoothly. I don't know why people take Schriers claims as truths, hes good and credible but if ea themselves are saying he's wrong the community shouldn't worry

I honestly never played Extraction but I do think it would be nice in future installments (as long as Motive and EA don't end up dropping the ball) that there should be some more optional content that features the expanded universe a bit more. There's plenty of opportunity to bring in Extraction content if they do manage to get DS2 rolling at least.

there's two references that i've found so far about DSE characters and its one when you're about to fix the transmission satelite, when the captain speaks about the situition on the colony and that Dr. Eckhardt forgive him for the Quarentine lockdown. And the second one was on the final chapter nearby the store, there is an text log that reference to Gabe Weller and a few characters f the anime too...

@@audio_alien There's another reference on the bridge when you first go there in Chapter 4, the communications console has a last recording from the deck staff before being overrun by the Brute and cries out for where Chief Vincent is. I think White also name drops her and her security team just outside the airlock to the ADS trench too in the security callbox.

Honestly, the suit design as a whole in the game is just so good. Even the environment effects after a fight where you're either caked in blood or covered in dirt or when your in the cryo lab with all the frost clinging to it

@@claytonhawk8512 It's a very subtle effect but it's a nice touch nonetheless. I believe there's also a few times the frost effects pop up in a few of the sequences where Issac is exposed to space. Either that or my GPU drivers need re-installing XD

@@JAIJ47 Whenever Isaac is in a vacuum his suit will frost up, and after he leaves the vacuum you can see it slowly thaw and become glossy for a bit while it's still wet. The detail is insane.

I could be wrong but as far as I'm aware, this seems to be the only hint to what the marker is doing before reaching Aegis 7. There may be some clues in marker fragment descriptions but I can't actually remember what those were XD

Expanded material shows that even never knowing the loved one died they can still appear as a hallucination, happened to someone where they saw their loved one as a vision but knew the marker well enough to know that means they were deceased

Yeah, at this point, Temple was still alive and since the audio log that reveals Mercer has taken Temple hostage got lost all the way to cargo bay, Cross never finds out what happened to him. The markers can alter appearance of living people to look something else, but it cannot impersonate them until they die. Reason for it is unknown and it's implied trough Nicole's talk with the Marker that it doesn't understand it either(provided it is speaking the truth).

Ooohhh thats why I didnt find this on my first playthrough. I was watching the video confuses to how this guy was able to intreact with this audio log because I went to the exact same spot and the console was in red and wouldnt let me intreact with the thing at all

100% agree. The exploration aspect of the remake gives so much more context through logs like this, that just makes everything click that extra little bit to make the story and events a lot more coherent

Idk if it could be Kendra. Once you get the thing you needed from the room she contacts you saying that she lost your signal for a bit and she’s relieved you’re still alive. It makes more sense that Kendra lost Issac’s signal during the whole Nicole thing instead of Kendra panic calling him in the 10 seconds they just left each other. But who knows.

Same for me to and I even had an argument with somebody about it lol. Basically I said that it made sense that this was added but basically their biggest argument was that Isaac was simply hallucinating the problem (aka the locked door) no one was actually there, it also does fit but I feel like having another person there fit more.

@@trh3xa174 the whole Aegis 7 part glued me in that there must be something more to this "Nicole" than just a hallucination. The part where she tells you that storage area has ran out of power, and then runs diagnostic afterwards telling where's the problem. Since when have hallucinations started relaying back information that could only be physically accessed?

@@Ruosteinenknight Well again it could still be explained as Isaac was just hallucinating that "there's problems" but in reality the path has always been clear.

Same. It's an absolute master class on how a "Triple A" remake should be. I just hope that the success of the remake gives enough momentum to revitalise the series

@@JAIJ47 I would honestly be shocked if they didn’t, at the very least, remake the other games. Even doing the side games and DLC’s would be awesome! I would love to play a dead space game the follows the whole downfall of the colony and the Ishimura, right up to Isaac arriving with the repair crew
